Heyy...

As most of you would know by now, we would be having a Melbourne Race coming up pretty soon. To describe what it's about, i'm just gona quote it off from Melissa's email ;)

"The 'race' generally has the same concept has the Amazing Race has shown on television (for all you tv junkies), or the Spirit of KL. Essentially, it is running from one landmark to the other, doing a series of non-embarrassing and witty activities to gain your next step into the game. It is proven to be heaps of fun from personal experience and we can guarantee that you will be going home with oodles of great memories and silly moments."

For those newly arrived students out there, here's a chance for you to get to know Melbourne just a lil bit more. I bet you that after this race, you might just know more about Melbourne city that a person who has lived here for a year or 2. hehe.

For the rest of you, here's a chance to test yourself. how well do you actually know melbourne??

Hey guys~ i know i know its been a very goat-damned long time since anyone has actually posted anything on the MaSS website, and for that i apologize most profusely. Though it was done over email, again much over-dued wishes of the BEST OF LUCK to everyone sitting for examination papers over the next 2-3 weeks, being that we are already smacked in the midst of it :D
And why or rather HOW did i find the time to type a post up? Simple answer: i did two papers already and am feeling VERY LAZY RIGHT NOW.

HERALD THE NEW COMMITTEE
i am sure that EVERYONE is very much aware of the new changes in the club right now, with new committee members taking up various posts, and sorts. Please refer to the previous post for information. We are in the midst of revampign certain stuff within the club, everyone very eager to bring forth their ideas and seeing them in action. We truly hope to bring the best to the club in the following semester.

Semester 2
The 2nd semester will start on the 16th July in case nobody is aware. You can bet that MaSS will have a booth opened up during O-Week to receive and welcome you guys back again for the 2nd semester, and hope that you will re-new your memberships with us! Don't forget, if you have the CommUNIty Card, you are eligible for a discounted fee (like me! weee!).
For the following semester, rest assured that there will be activities to enjoy and sorts. Though semester 1 may seemed like a quiet sem to most members, with only a pinch of activities here and there, we will try our darndest to make sure that sem 2 will have more. You guys need to read your emails more often!!! But don't let the acitivities-happening stop at us, the club! You, as members, are MORE THAN WELCOME to create acitivites of your own, propose it to us and make it happen! We are more than happy to hear what you want to do, making it so much easier for us making stuff happen for you guys!

i hope everybody have stopped aching or bruising by now. hehehe...

anyway, last Saturday, we had our paintball event and eventhough we didnt get our target amount of people. but nonetheless, it was fun!!

i arrived at 7-eleven a lil later than expected but im sooo happy to say that most of the people that were already there were malaysians!!! i'm sooo proud of u guys. hehehe. the buses left a lil later than it should due to latecomers but we still arrived on time soo it's all good.

It was a 3 hours journey, so i think almost everyone slept at some point of the journey.

we made 1 toilet stop on the way cuz the toilet in the bus wasnt working. anyway, here's melissa!! the success of the paintball is all thanks to her!!

sorry the pictures are a lil blur cuz the bus was kinda shaky and my camera sucks.

we managed to arrive at bout 9.10am. a guy came and gave us a safety talk on the bus. we filled up forms, gave our student ID and got suited up in our camo.
this is the entrance to the place. it looks kinda like a 'tanah terbiar' doesnt it?

while waiting for the other bus to arrive, we took some pictures....

we headed inside the place and took a lil moreee....

once the other bus arrived, we got our helmets and guns and off to battle, we go! sorry i don't have any pictures inside, i didn't bring my camera in. anyway, we played until about 2pm. had a few breaks in between. at 2pm, we had a bbq lunch provided by the paintball place. after lunch, we had 1 more game and then we headed home with bruises and paint everywhere. arrived caulfield at bout 7pm. and that was it!

BBQ Pot Luck

first and foremost, i wanna thank every single who turned up for the BBQ Pot Luck last friday. and i especially wanna thank those who brought sandwiches, wedges, sauces, bread, dessert, drinks, onigiri (did i spell that right?), garlic bread, butter, chips, cups, plates, etc. ur presence and ur contribution has made the event a success!! and i apologize on behalf of the committee for informing u guys bout the wrong venue. we ourselves were not aware that it wasnt the k block bbq pit. soo sorry for that!

soo anyway, quite a few of you guys turn up early to help out. very good you. give urself a pat on ur back. here's some pictures. im sorry but i just lovee putting up pictures. and for those whose faces arent in here. very sorry but the next time u see a camera clicking, dun malu2 and get into the picture!!

Moomba Waterfest

im sorry for the oh-so-latee update. but anyway, here it is!

soo, on the 10th of March (Saturday), the club had an unofficial trip to Moomba waterfest. for those who missed it and is wondering what's Moomba all about. well, i dun really know the reason for having it. but i can tell u what they had. it was along the yarra river sorta behind the federation square. they had fun fair games, rides and performances. its pretty much like a fun fair except that on the Yarra river, they had water activities like water-skiing, wakeboarding, boat rowing, etc. at night, they had a starlight cinema whereby we all watch a movie under the stars. they were showing 'Cars' on saturday night. in my opinion, the screen was a little too smalll. but it was fun!

in the middle of the movie, they had a fire show. it lasted for about 15 mins. and it was really really nice. here are some pictures for those who missed it. the library computer isnt being very nice to me, soo all i can upload is 3 pictures but it should be good enough.

MaSS Welcome Night 2007

on Sunday 4th March 2007, we had our Welcome Night for all the members of the club. i think there about 20 of us that night. for those who signed up but didn't turn up, shamee on you!

at 6pm, all members were either spos to meet at Flinders Street station or the Caulfield station. From there, we made our way to Richmond station and from there, changed trains and continued on to Camberwell. i cant remember exactly what time everything happened. but doesnt matter... insignificant details.

soo anyway, we arrived.... and then the food arrived!

we started off with Calamari Rings, Caecar Salad and a Vegetarian Lasagne (pic on left). and then the pizzas came. one of it was a Salmon pizza(right), as weird as it sounds, it tasted pretty damn good. then we had pastas. the pasta is actually for 2 people soo you would be shocked to see the portion of the food. we had 2 of those large sized pasta. 1 was with vegetarian and seafood pastas (below) . and the other was with meat and potato balls (?).

as we were having dinner. all committee members were to introduce themselves to every new member of the club. and once that was done, we had a lil photo taking session thanks to Zahirah for remembering to bring a camera.hehe.

i'll just put up all the pictures soo u guys can just get them. i wonder whether anyone actually remembered the website i gave u guys. oh well.....

we all headed home at about 10.30 i think. all happy and fulll....

ohhh, we'll have booths open on tuesday to thursday. im assuming it's for u to collect ur MaSS ID and also for u guys to enquire about the Moomba Waterfest this weekend. we'll most probably be going on a Saturday soo that u'll have Sunday to relax.

you must be wondering what they hav at this Moomba Waterfest that we keep talking about. its actually a water festival. its not those festivals where u play with water. but rather watch water activities go on along the Yarra River like canoeing, water skiing and all that stuff. the will also be rides but mind you, u hav to pay per ride here. besides that, there's workshops and cultural performances. and then at night, there will be a Starlight Cinema and fireworks. on saturday night, they're showing Cars. even if you've seen the movie, there's nothing wrong with sitting under the stars and watching it again, right? the entrance to the Moomba Waterfest is FREE! u'll only hav to pay for ur train ticket. sooo, im hoping to see as many as u ppl there this weekened. u guys should really get out before all ur assignments and tests start. seriously!!

We're very very very sorry for the constant change in details for the Tulip Farm Trip but we were trying to decide on the best day and prices for you guys. So here it is:

Date: 26th September 2006; Tuesday

You will have to purchase a daily metcard ticket for zone 1,2 and 3 yourselves. We will be taking a train and a bus to the Tulip Farm.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... yes we all owe you a good kick in the backsides, but honestly if you are waning to kick anyones butts, it should be the unit coordinators of our respective units for dumping a crapload of work on us. ... Procrastinate you say? Who us? NEVER!!!

Recently, MaSS went head to head against OCF in a friendly soccer match (or so they claim it was). The original plan was to bring in a few girls as part of the team in great hopes that the opposing team would soften up slightly because, as we aaall know... nobody wants to kick a girl and see her cry right? right?
But anyways, no girls came, and the battle of male test-... soocer ensues.

MaSS emerges champion with the score of 7-2!!!! For more info, hunt down Neo and choke the details out of him.

Hey peeps! Just a reminder that tomorrow is our Welcome Lunch. Old members, kindly show your membership cards upon entry and new members, please bring along your student ID cards to get your memberships cards!

If you have abso-tooting-lutely no idea where the OSS Lounge is, just come by the MONSU Service Desk next to STA Travel, nearby Coffee HQ (i am giving you as many landmarks as i can!), and one of us will definately be there, starving to death, just to escort you to the venue! Just look for someone with a green file and probably the Malaysian flag, and that will be us!

Omhigoshhh, just thinking about tomorrow is already making me hungry. And today was such an eventful day! Yaay! Wee hee hee hee!

Also, regarding the Mt Buller Day trip, it is great to know that many have already expressed their interest in it! We truly appreciate it because it will make it a whole lot easier for us estimate the crowd number and therefore, easier for us to book a bus and gurantee the approximate number of seats for you guys! If you are interested in the Mt Buller Day Trip, do tell us during the Lunch tomorrow and we will take your interest in account. Our esteemed President is currently in negotiations with the corresponding agents to get the best price and services that hopefully will fulfil your needs.

Hi everyone!!! Its Nick here, my first post. Melissa beat me to it ><

We just got comfirmation of the venue for the Welcome Lunch. Thanks to OSS, we will be having our 2nd Welcome Event this year for new and old members at the OSS Lounge in S Block. It is opposite the MONSU desk. I'll see if I can find a map of the place and post it here for those lost lambs out there. Anyways, the main issue in point form:

so it begins...

So it starts with a cold... very cold Monday as MaSS begins its quest to 'evangelize' fellow students into member recruitment; little did they know, we are actually hired by our beloved country's government to scout possible talents for National Service (why did you think we organized paintball for!!?). But i digress (and am joking by the way).

i swear, they were innocent until we got a hold of them, and zapped them with our beloved "Reflexigator" There are those who even came willlingly to be zapped. Oh joy.

Despite the cold morning, we managed to actually spam people's arms with our self-made leaflets which hopefully has been a changing moment in their lives, AND gained 3 new members! Hooray for that! All the more reason to break out the secret booze that our glorious President has been hiding under his bed.

Let's just hope that our efforts will be more ... 'fruitful' in the coming days.

WELCOME fellow MaSS members to the official MaSS blog! If you are reading is, we heartily thank you for actually taking the time to drop by to check out the site. Now all you need to do is to tell everyone else about it! We have plans for this site and hopes that it will carry on for as long as Monash Uni will live, and with your help, this site will most certainly live forever!

The MaSS table is MOST certainly opened for the entire first week (excluding Friday). Therefore, it is highly suggested you drag your friends, relatives and partners alike to us and force them on joining. Please remember, one does need NOT need to be a Malaysian to join MaSS! For goodness sakes, we are a multicultural society! Anyone remember; Malaysia, truly Asia ?? If you don't, you need to watch more television!
The table can be found along the corridor outside K Block (where most lectures are). Just look for the majestic "Jalur Gemilang" soaring amongst the other banners and clubs. We are opting for someone (preferrably male) to wear a singlet, sarong and songkok, and walk around, but so far, no one has been volunteering. Sigh.

We also would like to extend our congrags and slaps on backs towards William & Keng Wei; our previous Vice President & Membership Officer, who have completed their Uni courses and are graduates! They now enter the workforce, well equipped with knowledge, and the fate of Malaysia's future rest in their hands. So... this is an opportunity to smash eggs and do the whatnot rituals for them. They are sure to be very free before going back to Malaysia.
And with that, we welcome our new Vice President of MaSS: Neo! (isn't that such an awesome name! And YES, it IS his real name!). Humbly and graciously accepting this post, Neo is sure (or destined, however you wish to see it) to bring MaSS to new heights.
A new Membership Officer is yet to be announced, but we will keep you posted.

FELLOW members! We implore you to bombard our President's email with heaps of suggestions for anything, ANYTHING at all; activities, outings, exploration, gatherings and so forth. MaSS's mission statement has always been to make everyone feel welcomed and like a 'family' (yes in all its clicheness!!!), therefore we so welcome your ideas and opinions.

Also, the Sponsorship Officer is welcoming any suggestions of places you would like discounts at (especially if many Malaysians or Monash Uni peeps frequent the spot). If you have any clubs or bars in mind, please drop an email by as well. Everyone likes clubbing and drinking don't they?
